Emberfall Saga

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG that respects your time without dumbing itself down. You build a party of four, each with their own quirks and skill trees, and the turn-based combat asks you to actually think about turn order and elemental matchups. We spent a good fifteen hours with it and never felt like we'd seen everything.

The writing carries a lot of weight here. Side characters have real arcs, and a few dialogue choices actually change how later scenes play out. Combat stays fresh because enemies force you to switch tactics — spam the same attack and you'll get punished quickly.

The one caution is that the mid-game grind can slow down if you skip optional quests. Do the side content and the difficulty curve stays smooth. Skip it and you'll hit a wall around the third region.
